Failure is NOT an Option!

Oh the classic movie and TV line about how failure is not an option! It always promotes inspiration and drives the hero on to his goal or is the obligatory line before the villain inevitably fails. But what about its context to real life, is failure for people truly not an option. The short and simple answer is yes, failure should never be an option, but let me explain this a little better. The word fail, failing, failure, or any other forms of the word is what should truly never be an option.

Fail, to fall short of success or achievement in something expected, attempted, desired, or approved: as brought to us by our local dictionary. Now I ask you, whose right is it to tell us that we've failed in something? The answer is again simple, nobodies but our own. We as individuals are the only ones who should have a right to say that we've failed at anything and the one person you should never hear tell you that you failed, is you! Fail and all of its forms are such overused words with such negative meaning behind it that it can never be used as inspiration.

I implore a person never to feel as though they have failed at something. The truth of the matter is you can never fail at achieving something, you can only fail at trying to achieve it. If you try your hardest to achieve a goal or an outcome and you fall short don't consider that a failure. Sure you may have fallen short of complete success, but look at the things that you've achieved along the way. Its a classic cliche but its the journey's that you take in life that truly matter.

So you ask yourself while reading this, "My teacher just gave me a failing grade on a test, how did I not FAIL the test?" Your sitting pretty smug and you think you've got me beat and the fact is the teacher shouldn't give you what is called a failing grade. You probably didn't fail to pass the test, you probably didn't apply yourself. So they give you a big fat 'fail' but let me tell you that fail isn't applying to the test, they are applying it to you and its up to you to make sure that doesn't happen unless you yourself said that you have failed.

There are so many things in this world that people get down on themselves over because they think they failed or didn't meet expectations and sometimes they don't take a step back and realize that you can't always meet those expectations or those goals, even ones you set for yourself. Things happen in life that distract, sometimes you don't have the skill set, or maybe you just don't care. Things can be outside the realm of our control! So the word failure should never be an option to use because no given person will ever be a failure, they will never fail, and they will always succeed as long as they try. You may not get the desired goal 100% of the time, but you will gain valuable life lessons, you will gain experience, and you will get accomplishments that you will never forget!

Treat people right, try your hardest, and reach for the stars. You are a star, you can't fail, you are who you are and be proud.
